The TAVIS Variable Reluctance (VR) pressure-sensing gage is an all-metallic, all-welded construction in which the diaphragm uniquely measures pressure without any electrical elements, wires, adhesives/bonding materials or coatings attached to it. In fact, there is no contact whatsoever between the diaphragm and the sensing head, because they are coupled magnetically/inductively. This non-contact diaphragm operation provides many substantial advantages over other, more common sensor technologies.
